Kings gymnasts heading to regional, national events

The base gym at 14 Wing Greenwood hosted the 2007 provincial tumbling and trampoline championships April 14 and 15, organized this year by the Rainbow Riders Gymnastics Club from Greenwood. Athletes from several provincial clubs attended, competing for top honours.

Johanna Wamboldt from Rainbow Riders qualified for the national championships in trampoline, which will take place in Regina, Saskatchewan in May.

The following gymnasts qualified for the Eastern Canadian Trampoline and Tumbling Championships, being held in Toronto in May: Graham Killen, RR; Hillary Cameron, RR; Nicole Verstichelen, RR; Emily Holland, RR; Rachel Holland, RR; Ceilidh McGean, RR; Baillie Carr, RR; Jessica Dort, RR; Brittany Blinn, Annapolis Valley Gymnastics Academy; Hailey Reagh, AVGA; Olivia Connors, RR; Victoria Decker, AVGA; Sarah Calder, RR; Johanna Wamboldt, RR; Katie Currie, RR; Kayla Salsman, RR; Abbie Hankinson, RR; Mikaela Barnett, RR; Max Charest, AVGA. All were in the top eight in their respoective competitions.

Also, Brittany Blinn from the Annapolis Valley Gymnastics Academy was awarded the Amanda Forster Award for her outstanding effort and sportsmanship this past year. She perservered through some performance challenges and provided wonderful support for her teammates. This award is in memory of former clubmate Amanda, who passed away just over a year ago.
