Lockhartville's Lindsay Myles races in her first Canada Games.

Starting with para female run at 2 p.m. Atlantic time, the athletes will tackle the giant slalom course at B.C.'s Purden Ski Village.

Brenda MacDonald, a King's-Edgehill School student from Granville Ferry who trains out of Ski Wentworth, is racing for Team Nova Scotia in the para female contest. MacDonald, who is visually impaired, is in constant contact with a guide as she bolts down a ski hill.

The female alpine squad is scheduled to hit the slopes for their first run at 2:45 p.m.

MacDonald will have a second run at 5 p.m., and seven remaining female alpine racers will line up near the start gates at 5:30 p.m.

Martock Ski Race Club racers Lindsay Myles of Lockhartville and Dara Carr of Wolfville will represent Nova Scotia in this event along with their teammates from the Wentworth Ski Racing Club.

In other sports, Team Nova Scotia's wheelchair basketball players will challenge Alberta in their first Canada Games showdown at 5 p.m. Newport twins Jordan and Justin Stephens will be representing Hants County when they take the court at the national tournament.

Team Nova Scotia's female hockey players are slated to face Manitoba at 8 p.m. Falmouth's Brianna Hill will join her King's-Edgehill schoolmates Ally MacDonell and Julia Schmitt in taking the ice for Nova Scotia.

Tonight's game will mark the girls' third Canada Games battle. They're going into the game with a 0-2 record after suffering a 7-1 loss to Alberta Feb. 14 followed by a 6-0 upset compliments of Saskatchewan Feb. 15. Hill scored Nova Scotia's lone goal on Valentine's Day.
