Digby Regional student heading to provincial cross-country championship

DIGBY - Thian Carmen from Digby Regional High School has qualified for the provincial cross-country championships.

Thian Carmen will be competing Monday in the NS cross-country championship in Halifax.

Carmen was among 15 DRHS runners who competed in the regional championships Monday held at the Yarmouth golf course. He came 13th in the intermediate 5-kilometre run, with a time of 22:20

The top 15 individual runners move onto provincials, said coach Charlotte Sabean.

The provincial competition will be held Monday, Oct. 27, in Halifax’s Point Pleasant Park.

Other Digby competitors were:

Intermediate girls 4-k run: Hannah Morrison, 28th, with a time of 27:10; Melanie Gunn, 44th, in 33:01

Senior girls 4-k run: Emma Chisholm, 21st, in 27:24; Morgan Milbury, 39th, in 33:31

Senior boys 7-k run: Jared Thibault, 44th, in 43:47; Ryan Milbury, 34th, in 36:05
