Teams from Digby, Annapolis, Bridgetown, Horton, New Germany, Bridgewater, and Liverpool along with Clare converged on Forest Heights in Chester Basin to battle it out for the title over the weekend.

Les Loups were perfect on the floor against Horton 2 and AWEC Friday night, winning each game in two sets.

Saturday, ESDC took on the New Germany Saints winning the first set 25-15, but lost the second 25-22 to force the third set. Les Loups finished off the Saints 15-8.

ESDC defeated AWEC 25-18 and 25-11 to advance to the championship final against New Germany.

ESDC captain Aimee Bertrand said the team got off to a good start and pulled ahead of the Saints early in the first set.

“We had the advantage of jumping out ahead of New Germany and, although they fought back, there was no catching up,” Bertrand said.

“We continued to maintain our momentum in the second set to capture the banner. It was what we set out to bring home.”

Digby Regional’s Lady Mariners were unsuccessful in reaching the crossovers in the regional tournament, but will participate in the provincial championships as the host team.

ESDC will compete in Division 3 Provincials at DRHS on Dec. 5 and 6.
