WOLFVILLE - Some topnotch ringette action is coming to Acadia University.

The Wolfville-based university is hosting Canada Games ringette teams from Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Manitoba and PEI from Aug. 3-5.

The Canada Winter Games prep event will give the teams an opportunity to faceoff prior to the national contest, which is slated to be held in Red Deer, Alberta in February 2019.

“Getting to see some of the best ringette in the country in the heart of NS wine country in August isn't a usual event,” said a recent media release circulated by Tracey Tulloch, head coach of Nova Scotia’s Canada Games Ringette Team.

The timing and location of the Coast 2 Coast Ringette Challenge helps set the event apart from other prep tournaments.

“The team is excited to showcase our province at such a beautiful time of the year, and in such a beautiful location,” said tournament organizer Kenda MacKenzie in the press release promoting the event.

“Typically, ringette tournaments have teams visiting during the winter months, so we are glad these athletes will see our province during the summertime and get to compete at a high level to prepare for the Games.”

Tournament play begins at 8 a.m. Aug. 3, with the last games winding down by about 6 p.m. each day. The final is slated to be played at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 5.

A full tournament schedule can be found at Coast 2 Coast Ringette Challenge 2018 Facebook page.
