The inductees are:
• Curler Curt Palmer, who still plays competitively, has three Brier appearances and three national championship appearances
• Ed Mallory, a standout fastball pitcher in the 1960s
• Brian ‘Gerry’ Goulet, another fastball pitcher for the 60s
• The 1964 Cambridge Red and Whites team, who were the Maritime softball champions.
• Figure skater and skating coach Rick Book
• Dale Lloyd, a well-known Berwick softball player, golfer, businessman and county councillor.
“These people represent tremendous accomplishment in sport and to the community and we look forward to highlighting and honouring them during the induction ceremony,” says Mike Trinacty, chair of the hall of fame committee.
Many athletes and teams will also be recognized for their achievements over the last year during the event, which gets underway at 7 p.m.
A new feature this year is the release of a song dedicated to the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame by local recording artist Hughie MacDonell.
“Having Hughie perform will make it an even more entertaining evening,” Trinacty said.
The evening is a family event with no admission and a reception will follow the ceremony.
