Valley Bulldogs' players part of Nova Scotia domination at rugby Easterns

Five female Valley Bulldogs players were part of Nova Scotia Keltics gold rush at Eastern Canadians.

All four provincial rugby teams competing in Charlottetown won July 11 to 13 won their divisions.

“To win all divisions and drop only one game in the entire tournament is truly special,” said provincial coach Jack Hanratty after the weekend. “The hard work put in by the players, coaches, managers and clubs was truly rewarded today and I am excited for the future of rugby in this province.”

Nova Scotia’s senior women took the gold with a 17-0 win over Newfoundland; U-20 women with a 41-0 win over host PEI in the final; the U-18 men with a 14-5 victory over New Brunswick and the U-18 women took their final with a 7-3 win over Eastern Ontario.

Erin Beazley was a standout point scorer for the senior women in the final. Ashley Brooker, Nicola Jones and Amanda Jardine are the other Valley players on the squad.

Valley’s Michaela Haley played with the U-20 women.
