Basketball Nova Scotia’s Under-17 boys’ provincial team, will host two sets of development camps next month.
The first block of camps will be July 7 to 9 at University of King’s College in Halifax, with the second block July 21 to 23 at the Louis Millett Centre in New Minas.
Provincial coach Deon Wilson said the camps “are being offered to help in the development of the next wave of basketball players to come through BNS programs, as well as raise funds for the U-17 teams’ trip to the nationals in Edmonton in late July.”
The camps are open to boys and girls ages 8 to 12. According to Wilson, “there will be a high emphasis on motor skill acquisition for the purpose of creating long-term athletes.”
The players and coaches – Kentville’s Wilson and Yarmouth’s Ryan Dickison - “are very excited to get into the gym and provide a teaching environment for the next wave of players to represent Nova Scotia,” Wilson said.
“These young men have had exceptional experiences through BNS and are looking to share their knowledge and amazing experiences in a fun-filled, three-day clinic.”
This year’s 17-and-under boys’ provincial team has a good representation from the Valley, including Dre Medicraft of Canning, Gage Sabean of Port Williams, Mitch Tempro of Three Mile Plains and Matt Ingham of Wolfville.
For information or to register, contact Wilson, 300-3217 or email@example.com, before June 30.
