"We need to put last night behind us, and come out with the same kind of effort we had in the last two games of the Saint Mary's series," Axemen goalie Brandon Glover said March 3 after practice.

Trailing the Huskies two games to one, the Axemen won the fourth game of the semifinal series 2-1 in Halifax and game five 3-2 back in Wolfville to take the series, three games to two.

"We need to get back to doing the little things that made us successful all year," Glover said, which didn't happen in the first game of the series.

Head coach Darren Burns agreed.

"We have to be ready to go," he said March 3, "wipe yesterday away and get back to basics."

The Axemen fell behind early in game one and never recovered.

"That's hockey," Burns said. "Sometimes things happen like happened to us last night."

"(We)fell behind early, and playing from behind is not our forte, especially against a team as good as UNB."

Burns said he expected Zach Franko, who did not play in Fredericton to be ready to go in Game 2.

Alex Beaton, who crashed heavily into the boards after being stopped on a breakaway Monday night,  won't be playing, Burns said.

Veteran defenceman  Chris Owens, who has not played since the third game of the Saint Mary's series, will likely be until the University Cup nationals, Burns said.
