At least two, and possibly all three, of the Acadia Minor Hockey Association coaches that were handed one-year suspensions by Hockey Nova Scotia last week will appeal their penalties.

Jeff Burbidge, Laurie Dauphinee and Jamie Henderson all coached the Acadia Peewee AAA team during the 2012-2013 season.

It was previously confirmed that Henderson was the only one of the three still coaching Acadia Peewee AAA this season. Burbidge had stepped away from the team and Dauphinee is not coaching minor hockey this season.

The three coaches were the subject of an official complaint from parents focusing, among other things, on their use of inappropriate language, bullying and allegedly offering players money for hard checks.

Hockey Nova Scotia conducted an independent investigation into the allegations, and last week, announced that the coaches had all been suspended for one year.

Both Hockey Nova Scotia executive director Darren Cossar and AMHA president Mike Dauphinee were contacted for this story, but declined comment while the appeal process was on-going.
