The Leafs, who won their opening game of the 2017 portion of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, fell 4-2 to the Blazers Monday night.
The Leafs and Blazers were tied 2-2 with 1:28 remaining in the game when the Blazers' Kyle MacDonald struck short-handed to put them in front 3-2.
In an effort to even the score, the Leafs pulled their goalie, Chris Clokie. Unfortunately for the Leafs, Jessie Hamer fired a shot into their empty net to win the bout with 1:13 showing on the clock.
The Blazers led the Leafs 1-0 after the first period thanks to a goal by Wyatt Michaluk. The Leafs scored twice, in quick succession in the second to take the lead. Scoring for the Leafs were Jonah Vidito and Wesley Demone (short-handed).
With 11 seconds to play in the second, Hamer scored to tie the game and set up Sackville's eventual victory in the third.
The Leafs play three more times in the next few days. On Jan. 19 they visit the Brookfield Elks and on Jan. 20, they host the Elks at the Hants Exhibition Arena at 7:30 p.m.
On Jan. 22, the East Hants Penguins will visit Windsor for a 3:45 p.m. afternoon match up.
The Leafs will try to avenge their loss to Sackville when they host the Blazers in Windsor Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
