The first place spot could be decided Feb. 6, but will definitely be known on the final night of the regular season on Feb. 8 in Windsor.
The Avon River Rats conclude the regular season against the Bedford Wolverines on Feb. 8.
Going into play the first weekend in February, the River Rats and Metro Jaguars were tied for first place with 40 points apiece, followed by the third place Spryfield Attack with 36.
The River Rats are scheduled for four games in five nights to close out the season, starting Feb. 4 in Eastern Shore. They will return home to play on Feb. 5 when they host the Cumberland-Colchester Colts. They are scheduled to play the Jaguars Feb. 6 in Metro before returning home to finish the season Feb. 8 against the fourth place Wolverines.
The 19-5-2 River Rats will certainly need some help as the Jaguars still have two games in hand on the River Rats. The 20-4-0 Jaguars are also scheduled to play four games in five nights this week.

The River Rats and Jaguars were both winners last week with the Jags defeating Spryfield 5-2 and defeated the Bedford Wolverines 5-4 in overtime.
As for the hometown team, the River Rats rallied from being three goals down on Jan. 28 in Spryfield to eke out a 5-4 victory. The Attack led 3-0 after the first period but Avon refused to let it get them down. The River Rats scored a total of four goals in the middle frame, three of which were by Adam Ferguson. Cam Dauphinee added the other. The game was knotted at 4-4 after 40 minutes.
The only goal in the final frame came from Tyler Dixon.
The Attack outshot the River Rats 48-45.
This game concluded the regular season series between the River Rats and Attack, and for the first time in years, the River Rats held firm control of the series, winning all six games against them.
On Jan. 29 in Windsor, the game was over before it started.
Although the Cumberland-Colchester Colts scored the game’s first goal, that was all the damage they could do as the River Rats replied with 14 unanswered goals.
The River Rats led 4-1 after the first period, scored seven more in the second and concluded with three in the third for the crushing win.
Stuart Whidden and Dixon scored two goals a piece, while the remaining goals were tallied by Parker Connors, Tyler Lapierre, Ferguson, Taran Bailey, Joel MacNeil, Jake Hopewell, Cam Dauphinee, Logan Cleveland, Samuel Plourde and Tyler Comeau.
