Playing at home, the Digby Regional team spent a frustrating three periods trying just to get on the scoreboard against the Windsor school. Instead, they finished up on the wrong side of a 6-0 score.

“The Mariners are a young team this year,” said coach Kevin Locke. Most of the players are in grades 9 and 10, and the opposition teams in the Valley High School Hockey League are often stacked with grade 11 and 12 players.

Avon Valley’s Such opened the scoring less than four minutes into the game, and added one more goal in each of the two following frames. Ben Davidson, with two goals, and Adam Ferguson with a single rounded out the visitors’ scoring.

Despite its scoring advantage, Avon Valley also led the way in penalties, with 11 to Digby’s eight.

The Mariners are at home again Saturday, Nov. 15, against Bridgewater
