Hockey Axemen take fourth game in a row with 5-2 win over Panthers

CHARLOTTETOWN - The Acadia Axemen scored three power-play goals to defeat the UPEI Panthers 5-2 Saturday in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) men's hockey action Nov. 1.

Travis Gibbons, Liam Heelis and Daniel Poliziani scored with the man advantage while Zachary Franko and Mike Cozzola had even-strength markers.

Franko had two assists; Sam Fioretti, Cozzola and Gibbons each added one. Brent Andrews on the power play and Darcy Ashley scored for the Panthers. Reggie Traccitto had two assists; Tyler Brown and Travis McIsaac each added one.

Brandon Glover made 32 saves for the Acadia win and UPEI's  Matt Mahalak made 21 saves in the loss.

Acadia led 1-0 after the first and scored three in the second, including two power-play goals after Brock Beukeboom was handed a five-minute major for charging and a game misconduct.

The Axemen host Saint Mary's Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.
