Yarmouth and Bridgewater have both recently played in the South Western High School League, but explained to league organizers they wanted a more organized structure and more league games and therefore decided to seek entry into the Valley League.

When it comes to league games for the 2014-2015 season, considerable discussion took place over a balanced schedule (one home and one away) against all league teams, versus an unbalanced schedule, where some teams might not play each other in the regular season or only play one game against some other league teams.

The major question about playing a balanced schedule was the increase in league games from 18 to 22. With winter storms and tournaments, it proved difficult for teams to play all 18 games scheduled in 2013-2014.

However, in the end, a 22-game schedule was voted on and approved for the upcoming season with teams asked to potentially remove one tournament from their schedules to make life easier for the league scheduler. Teams were also told there would be more two-game weekends than was the case last season.

Oct. 10 or Thanksgiving weekend will mark the season opener for teams, with Avon View, Horton High, Northeast Kings, Central Kings, West Kings, Middleton, Bridgetown, Digby, Forrest Heights, defending league champions Parkview Education Centre and the two new teams ready to face-off. The top four teams will make the playoffs and a one-day league championship tournament is being looked at during the latter part of the first week of March.
