“The teachers have been ripping on us, saying they’re going to win, but it’s just not going to happen,” says Logan Carman, captain of the DRHS Mariners hockey team.
A team of DRHS teachers is playing the Mariners on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Digby arena at 7 p.m.
Joey Amero, a teacher’s assistant at DRHS and an assistant coach of the hockey team, says they are going to play three periods of at least 15 minutes and hopefully one or two that are 20 minutes.
Admission to the game is $5 or a non-perishable food item.
All proceeds go to the Digby Area Foodbank but there isn’t a whole lot of goodwill between the two teams.
“We beat them last year and I imagine our experience will be the deciding factor again this year,” says Amero. “They would be smart to cancel.”
Carman says there’s no chance of that.
“We’re going to make them pay for all the extra homework they’ve been piling on lately,” he said. “With their old age, they won’t be able to keep up and I’d say we’ll beat them by three of four.”
