One of the most prolific players to wear the Axemen uniform, Baker played three seasons with Acadia, and capped his university career by being named CIS Player of the Year for the 2005-2006 season, one of only four Axemen to win that award.

During his university career, he had 58 goals and 102 points in 77 career games, and scored 24 goals in back-to-back seasons, 2004-2005 and 2005-2006.

Baker, 35 - a Kingston, Ont., native - had played professionally before entering Acadia, reaching the American Hockey League level. Counting his two separate stints as a pro hockey player, the 2014-2015 season is his 11th as a professional.

Last season with the Arizona Sundogs of the CHL, Baker had 34 goals – tied for third in the league – and 64 points in 65 games. He added five goals and nine points in 11 playoff games.

In his professional career, he has totaled 276 goals and 327 assists for 603 points in 686 career games entering this season. He was named the East Coast League’s Player of the Year for 2008-2009, to go along with his CIS MVP award.

Over the course of his career, Baker, a Los Angeles Kings pick in the 1999 NHL draft, has played 83 games at the AHL level.

Baker joins another former Axemen player, 2014 graduate Evan Mosher, with Quad City. Mosher, 24, a native of Conception Bay South, N.L., signed a contract to play with the Mallards this past August, and is one of two goalies listed on their current roster.
