For the Avalanche, they won their first game of the year 5-0 after starting 0-2-1. For the Gators, it marked their first loss of the season, as they were 3-0.

Avon View started slow for the opening 10 minutes and on five separate occasions had trouble clearing the puck out of their own end. Following the rocky start, they kicked things into high gear and held period leads of 2-0 and 5-0. There was no scoring in the third.

Prior to the game’s first two goals, Ben Dixon made a superb sprawling defensive save to prevent the Gators’ Patrick Howatt from going in alone and getting a shot on net.

In the opening period, Liam Porter scored the first of his two goals on the evening. Ethan Salsman assisted on the goal.  With only 3:03 left in the first period on a bang-bang play in front of the Gators net, Will Caines scored unassisted for Avon View.

Porter scored his second of the game to make it 3-0 before the second period was five minutes old.

The Avalanche were trying hard to add to the 3-0 lead but it took until mid-way through the second when Blake Rogers left a blast go from the point to make it 4-0.  with Liam Parker assisting.

The final goal of the game was scored by Dan Lord with only 3:17 remaining in the second period.

Central Kings then replaced starting goalie Lloyd Tyler with Austin Gould.

Avon View took the game’s first penalty late in the second period and CK got their power-play working in the final thirty seconds and nearly scored on Kyle Pellegrini.

Pellegrini and Ryan Jillett both played 30 minutes in nets for the Avalanche and shared the shut-out victory.
