Cory Taggart scored the game winner, which seemed to stun the West Kings Wolverines’ goaltender.

The first period began with both teams playing tentative hockey. Joe Bishop had the best chance for Avon View as he drilled a hard wrist shot directly on the West Kings net before it was blocked.

Avalanche goaltender William Earley took a hard shot off the mask and then made another pad save on West Kings’ two best chances. Adam Ferguson rang one off the goal post as the first period ended in a scoreless draw.

West Kings finally took a 1-0 lead with seven minutes to play in the second period, scoring shorthanded. Avalanche goaltender Earley made the initial save but could not grab the rebound.

The Avalanche tied the game when Tyler LaPierre, on the power-play, let a bullet shot go from the blue line which sneaked in just over the goalie's shoulder.

Ferguson played a dominant game for Avon View with his strong hustle. In the third, Ferguson took a pass from Ben Davidson behind the net to put Avon View up 2-1.

Keeshaun Such and Ferguson worked diligently in setting up the Avalanche's third goal, with Peter MacDougall rifling the shot home to make the score 3-1 with 7:47 remaining in the third period.

West Kings then tied it up before Taggart potted the winner.
