Kentville native Gareth Nicholson will suit up for the third team of his major junior career this fall after being traded to the Saint John SeaDogs Wednesday, Aug. 6.

The QMJHL website (theqmjhl.ca) announced that Nicholson had been traded by the Moncton Wildcats to Saint John in exchange for defenseman Jeremy Doucet. Nicholson turned 19 on June 8; Doucet turns 19 on Sunday, Aug. 10.

Nicholson, a 6’, 206-pound defenseman who formerly played for the Valley midget AAA Wildcats, spent his first season in the QMJHL in Cape Breton after being drafted by the Screaming Eagles in the sixth round of the 2012 QMJHL draft.

In 54 games with Cape Breton during the 2012-2013 season, he had one goal and six assists.

He began last season with Cape Breton before being traded to Moncton in mid-season. He had no points in 20 games with Cape Breton, and one goal and one assist in 19 games with Moncton.
