Tight play in Clare at NSGA four-ball championship

CLARE - Wayne O'Donnell of Oakfield GC and Tom Cameron of Gage Golf and Curling are leading the first round of the NSGA Men's Four Ball Championship after firing a 6-under par 65 on Saturday.

The pair combined to have six birdies and 12 pars throughout the round. O'Donnell and Cameron look to continue strong play in today's final round as they seek the championship.

One shot behind are three teams: the father-son duo of Chad and Gerry MacMillan of Paragon G&CC, the hometown team of Devin Maillet and Vincent Saulnier, and the Oakfield duo, Blair Whitty and Matt Vaughan. All three teams had a stellar day, shooting a five-under par 66.

There are also five other teams two shots back of the lead after shooting rounds of 67.

Clare's Philippe Thibault had the day's lone hole in one. Thibault aced the par-3 second hole, which was playing to 180 yards.

Digby’s Myles Creighton and partner David Patterson of Halifax, are in a seven way tie for 16th after a one-under round of 70.
