LIVERPOOL – Recently, Queens County soccer parents were urged to attend an important meeting to make decisions for the upcoming season as well as for the future of the club.
The organization’s treasurer, Sarah Tutty, announced that over 10 willing volunteers were in attendance, who stepped forward to help secure the future of soccer in Queens County.
Tutty says that every year, the association is required to hold an annual general meeting. Decisions are made about the upcoming season for the club, student jobs, purchases, nights, times and more. This is also the time when new members are elected or appointed to positions on the board.
“It was our hope that this meeting would bring some fresh blood and we were happy that it did,” says Tutty. “We had people step forward to help with many of the tasks, including some we have not been able to spend much time on, like looking for grants and other ways of fundraising.”
These roles are important to the association as they help keep costs as reasonable as possible for parents, so soccer can be enjoyed by everyone, says Tutty.
“The soccer club is no different than most of what our town as to offer youth,” explains Tutty. Without the help of volunteers, falling usually on parents whose children love the sport, there would be no club.
“Everything from field and equipment maintenance, student grant applications and payroll, registration, and so much more couldn't happen without an awesome group of volunteers to make it happen,” says Tutty.

There is a common registration night coming in April hosted by the Region at Queens Place, with the exact date and time to come. Watch the Queens County Soccer Club Facebook pages for updates. Soccer runs June to August on weekday evenings with games played from Liverpool to Chester. Cost varies by age with financial aid available through Jumpstart or payment plans.
“This is an excellent sport for parents who don't want to give up their summer weekends but would like their kids to be getting some organized physical activity,” says Tutty.
