ST. CROIX, N.S. - Five games into the season and the White Rock Rockies, of the Shooters Bar and Grill Men’s Fastpitch League, have finally recorded their first win.

They defeated the Halifax Pepperjacks by a score of 8-2 on June 28 in St. Croix.

The Rockies opened up a 3-0 lead after two innings and added a total of five more runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Justin Schofield struck-out 12 and gave up five hits in recording the pitching win while also going two for three at the plate with an RBI.

Parker Connors kept his eye on the ball throughout the evening, connecting for a pair of hits while also scoring a pair of runs.

Playing-coach Schofield told the Valley Journal-Advertiser that he was happy with the great defensive plays made by the Rockies. He said he was also pleased to see the offence come alive.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Rockies were thumped 10-0. The game was called due to the mercy rule after five innings.

Schofield and the team’s second and third pitchers were unable to play in the second game so Aaron Harvey pitched while collecting two hits in the losing effort.

The Rockies were at home to the Brookfield Elks on July 5 and will be at home to the Headstone Red Sox July 12 for a pair of games at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
