Upon arriving in the northern community, Schofield picked up where he left off with the Rockies by pitching two of Team Canada’s seven wins in their round-robin portion of the schedule.

Schofield had hitters from Hong Kong mesmerized as he struck-out 16 batters, 10 through the opening three innings in a 15-1 win.

Canada left nine batters on base and despite giving up three walks, Schofield had no difficulty as his offence exploded in the sixth inning for 10 runs.

In Schofield’s other pitching win, Team Canada defeated South Africa 10-2 as Schofield pitched four innings and struck out 10 and settled for relief pitching to finish the win.

Other Team Canada wins included: 8-3 over Argentina, 7-1 over the United States, 9-4 over Australia, 11-0 over India, and 7-0 over the Dominican Republic.

Team Canada is the odds-on favourite to win their second consecutive World Softball Congress Championship title, which is held every two years.

Team Canada won the last one in Saskatchewan in 2015.

They were set to start the playoffs July 15-16. Stay tuned for an update.
