The Pepperjacks received a lights out performance from pitcher Rene D'Entremont, who pitched Halifax to a pair of victories by scores of 3-0 and 10-5. He went the distance for the Halifax team for both games.
In the opener, the Pepperjacks scored three runs in the first inning as the first four batters singled, singled, doubled and walked against Justin Schofield. They plated three runs, which was all the scoring they needed to win the first game 3-0.
D’Entremont struck-out 14 Rockies while allowing only a single hit to Aaron Harvey. Schofield fanned 12 Pepperjacks.
In the second game, considerable more offense was on the agenda and the highlight of the night came from the bat of White Rock’s Harvey, who smashed a D'Entremont pitch over the fence.
Harvey also added a double, as did Curtis Broussard. Tyler Whynot connected for a triple and Trent MacKeil and Adam Barkhouse both added a pair of base hits.
Elliot Wright powered Halifax with a pair of triples.
The Rockies’ Morley Goo Goo pitched four innings in the second game, giving up four runs. He then had relief help from Matt Lyttle, who went 1.5 innings, giving up three runs, before Broussard pitched the final half of an inning and was tagged for three runs.
The Pepperjacks scored all 10 runs in consecutive innings as they plated three in the fourth, two in the fifth and five in the sixth.
The Rockies actually led 4-3 after four innings before the Pepperjacks came back with their huge sixth inning win.
Stewiacke was originally scheduled to play the Rockies July 30 but encountered injury difficulties.
The Rockies are idle this week and it remains to be seen whether there will be another doubleheader in St. Croix this season as it depends on make-up games being played. The league championship tournament is scheduled for two weeks time.
