In university baseball action last weekend, the Acadia Axemen scored scored two victories in four games. Sept. 13, Acadia faced off against the undefeated Holland College Hurricanes, taking two tough losses, 9-2 and 11-2, at Memorial Park in Kentville.

"The losses don't reflect the performance by our players, they played tough and will come back next time we play them," said one of the coaches of the club team.

In double-header action Sept. 14, the Acadia Axemen faced St. Mary's University at Beazley Park in Dartmouth, where both starting pitchers, Nick Tibert and Tristan Reede dominated on the mound. Miramichi’s Mark McPhee went three-for-four, leading the offensive drive for the Axemen.

Game two’s starting pitcher, Tristan Reede, also threw a complete game in a masterful demonstration of pitch command, control and composure, as the Axemen came back from a 2-0 deficit to come out on top over the Huskies 5-4.

The Axemen are back home this weekend to play four games against the St. Francis Xavier X-Men and the St. Mary's Huskies. Sept. 20 games will be played at the Memorial Park in Kentville at 1 and 4 p.m. The Sept. 21 games will be played out of Hantsport, at the home of the Hantsport Shamrocks intermediate AAA Baseball team, also at 1 and 4 p.m.

Acadia players are grateful for the generous welcome by the town of Hantsport and the baseball association.
