The Halifax Pelham Canadians topped the Kentville Wildcats 6-2 in Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League action June 17 in Halifax.
The Canadians scored six runs on just six hits and three Kentville errors. The Wildcats had 11 hits, but scored only two runs. Halifax committed one error.
Joey Cavadini, briefly a Wildcat last season, picked up the win, pitching the first seven innings before giving way to Brandon MacKinnon.
Shayne Conrad, David Pilat, Curtis Falls and Brett McGinnis all saw mound action for Kentville, with Conrad taking the loss.
Halifax opened the scoring with a run in the first inning, and after the Wildcats replied with two in the top of the second, took the lead back for good with three in the bottom of the inning.
The Canadians tacked on two more runs in the sixth to round out the scoring.
Jake Pelham and Shawn Peverill each had two RBI for Halifax, Pelham on a single and sacrifice fly and Peverill on a sac fly and a hit by pitch. Pat Gilbert singled and drove in a run, and Josh Pelham and Adam Lucas both doubled.
For Kentville, Falls had four singles, McGinnis doubled and drove in a run, Dusty Eisener singled and drove in a run, and Cody Shrider doubled.
The Wildcats and Canadians are back in action Saturday evening, June 21, when they meet in the other half of a home-and-home series, a 7 p.m. start at Memorial Park.
