A Yarmouth baseball player, Brad Jones, has been selected to the Nova Scotia U15 Selects baseball core roster.

Jones, 14, will find out towards the end of May if he has made the final roster.

Tryouts have been held around the province over the last few weeks. Jones attended a tryout that was held in Sackville. The top 35 or so bantam-aged players, out of the approximately 150 players that tried out, were selected for the core roster.

Those on the core roster will do two indoor baseball sessions in Halifax, one classroom session, play in two outdoor intersquad games and take part in a tournament to compete for the 17 spots available on the team.

Those who make the team will play on the provincial selects team in the national championships in Vaughn, Ontario this summer.

Jones has also made a U16 team that plays with Bulletproof Baseball in Ontario, meaning if he makes the Nova Scotia selects team he’ll have a difficult decision to make.
