Janet White launched Full Circle Realty in Windsor in 2012 but due to an unexpected illness, had to sell her business in the spring of 2013. She died that fall. Family members have found a way to honour her memory by hosting a special golf tournament to raise funds to find a cure for ALS.

A memorial golf tournament honouring a woman who left a lasting impression on the Windsor area before she passed away will get underway this afternoon.

Participants registered for the first annual Janet White Memorial Golf Tournament will tee off at 1 p.m.

Proceeds raised at the event, hosted at the Avon Valley Golf Club in Falmouth, will be donated to the ALS Society of Nova Scotia.

White was a leading realtor in Windsor, West Hants and the Annapolis Valley when she was diagnosed with ALS. She died at 59 years of age in October 2013, about one year after her diagnosis.

“Her bubbly, outgoing personality was infectious and she was an inspiration to many,” a pamphlet distributed to potential golf tournament sponsors reads.

The White family organized the memorial golf tournament in hopes of raising money that will assist with research that will lead to a cure for ALS, a terminal illness also known at Lou Gehrig's.
