Par-en-Bas basketball player Marcel Boudreau will be playing the next season with the UNB Seawolves in their upcoming season.

Marcel Boudreau, 18, of Wedgeport has joined the UNB Saint John Seawolves men’s basketball team for the upcoming season.

He was the first new player to join the Seawolves squad for the upcoming 2014-15 varsity season. Boudreau signed with the Seawolves even before the high school talent showcase at UNB Saint John in March.

Entering the Bachelor of Science program, Boudreau is graduating from École Secondaire de Par-en-Bas. The shooting guard has played basketball for five years, while also playing a multitude of other sports like soccer, hockey and volleyball. However, in Grade 11 Boudreau decided to “quit all other sports to focus solely on basketball.”

A two-time provincial all-star, Boudreau has played on three club teams and captained the U-18 Nova Scotia team in 2011 at the Jeux de la Francophonie summer games in Sudbury, Ontario. At those games Boudreau led his team to win silver.

Transitioning to Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) basketball now, Boudreau says he is “absolutely thrilled to be joining the Seawolves, and looking forward to bonding with the team.”

He believes one of his greatest strengths is his tenacity to possess the ball. He says he has an “unrelenting desire to push myself to not only make myself better, but most importantly, my team!”

About playing with the Seawolves in the upcoming season, Boudreau says, “By the end of the season I want to be competing in the playoff finals.”

The Seawolves season will begin in November.
