Two local teachers haven’t stopped thinking of their students just because it is their summer holiday.

As John Roscoe and Lisa Holmes got married on Saturday Aug. 9 they asked all of their guests to not bring gifts for the happy couple but instead to donate to the Hillcrest Academy Playground Society.

The playground equipment at Hillcrest Academy is in need of being replaced and a dedicated group of parents and community members has been working hard all year to fundraise with various events.

With a fundraising goal of $150,000 to $180,000 any fundraising help for the group is needed.

“It’s really needed,” said Roscoe.  “It will take a lot of fundraising and dedication….it will be a long road to help them reach their goal.”

The couple decided to forgo their gifts in exchange for helping out the playground fund shortly after becoming engaged.

“We are fortunate enough to have what we need,” he said.  “And it supports a great cause.”
