Kentville man facing attempted murder charges

A 50-year-old man is facing attempted murder charges following an assault with a weapon in North Kentville May 16.

Sherlock Peter Bowen, from Kentville, is facing two charges of attempted murder. He remains in custody and is set to appear in Kentville provincial court this morning.

On May 16, at approximately 9:45 p.m., RCMP and Emergency Health Services (EHS) responded to a request for assistance at a residence on Exhibition Street in North Kentville. Preliminary investigation determined that a man from Kentville had allegedly assaulted a 41-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man in the residence belonging to the female victim.

Bowen was arrested at the scene without incident. The 41-year-old woman, who suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, remains in hospital.

Police would not release any further details on the investigation or the type of weapon used in the alleged assault. 

The investigation is continuing.
