The Yarmouth Mazda Midget A Female Mariners won the Female Hockey Federation South Conference midget A league championship with a 3-2 win over Eastern Shore at the Mariners Centre on April 26.

Scoring goals for the Mariners during the championship win were Melissa Atkinson, Arielle Doucet and Tania Saulnier. In net was Maria Gaudet.

This was a successful season for the team, which was the silver medalists at midget A female provincials. The team also won silver at SEDMHA and silver at the Chicks with Sticks tournament in Yarmouth.

But given their second-place finishes, however, the team was thrilled to end their season on a golden note.

The Mariners had finished their regular season in first place among seven teams at the conclusion of their regular league season with a record of 18 wins, one loss and four ties. In league playoffs they had been tops again among the seven teams with 10 wins.
