A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Ryan Wilneff who is facing charges in connection with a Jan.22 crash that killed a Shelburne man.
A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a 28-year-old Halifax man who is facing charges in connection with a Jan. 22 crash in Edmonton that took the life of a Shelburne man.
Edmonton Police said Jacey Cox, 28, died in hospital after the vehicle he was a passenger in veered off an Edmonton street, knocking down a light standard, continuing through a parking lot and striking several billboards and trees in its path, before colliding head-on into the cement/brick wall of a business.
The funeral for Cox was held Thursday, Jan. 30 in Shelburne.
Police said alcohol and excessive speed are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
The driver, identified by police as Ryan Richard Wilneff, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening but serious injuries.
An Edmonton Police spokesperson said they were surprised to learn that Wilneff had signed himself out of the hospital before being released.
Wilneff is facing seven charges including impaired operation causing death, dangerous driving causing death, possession of a controlled substance and four breach of probation orders. Other charges are pending, said a police spokesperson.
