The start of the 2013/14 school year was a day long anticipated by Barrington mom Nicole Nickerson.
“Finally all 4 R in school,” proclaims the bed sheet banner hanging on the veranda of the family home.
“I always said I would do it, when I got all four of them in school,” said Nicole smiling.
A can of spray paint and a bed sheet did the trick. Husband Ward lent a hand by stapling the banner to the veranda.
“She always said she would raise the flag,” said 9 year old Mya, who is in Grade 4.
Celebrating her first day in school as well as her fifth birthday on Sept. 3 was Meran, the youngest daughter of Nicole and Ward Nickerson, who was “excited’ to be starting school.
In the middle is 6 year old Cole, who is in Grade 2. All three attend Forest Ridge Academy.
Entering his final year of junior high at Barrington Municipal High School this year is 14 year old Noah, who was looking forward to seeing his friends when classes resumed, and celebrated his birthday on Sept. 5.
For Mya, she was looking forward to using her new school supplies. New clothes had put a sparkle in Meran’s eye. As for Cole, he was not all that excited to be headed back to class.
