The Tri-County Local Food Network is hosting Yarmouth’s IncrEdible Picnic this Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Beacon Street park.
Yarmouth’s is one of 16 locations around Nova Scotia to host a Select Nova Scotia IncrEdible picnic this year.
The event is being billed as a celebration of local food. It is a project of the Tri-County Local Food Network, and this is the third year the group has held a community. The family friendly event will feature free corn and apple cider. Picnic tables, musical entertainment and local vendors will assist in providing atmosphere for this ‘end of summer' community gathering, said committee chair Eileen Coady. The picnic runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be held at the Beacon Church hall in case of rain.
The Select Nova Scotia picnics are a cornerstone of the ‘Summer Fresh’ campaign promoting the many benefits of buying local to consumers.
On its website, Select Nova Scotia says the goal of the Select Nova Scotia Picnics is to “create an authentic opportunity for Nova Scotians to learn about NS producers and enjoy delicious local foods in a social and convivial gathering.”
