Clear bag changes will be coming into effect this fall. For those who have questions or are searching to have any questions answered there will be an information meeting held.
Val Kean, waste diversion coordinator will be running the session to be held on Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Shelburne Community Centre.
The clear bag for garbage program is scheduled to begin Oct. 1, 2013 with enforcement beginning in the New Year.
The change is expected to affect all residents and businesses in the Town of Shelburne, the Municipality of Shelburne and the Town of Lockeport. To date, only the Town of Shelburne has had its second reading but both Lockeport and the municipality are scheduled to have their second reading of the by-law change by their next scheduled council meeting.
“We will give an outline of the new program,” said Kean. “Some people are still apprehensive and the session should help.”
There will be an info session for both the MOS and TOL when they have a final reading.
“Our job is to make this change as smooth a transition as possible,” she said.
