A 24-year-old Yarmouth man has died in a motor vehicle crash in Ontario and two other passengers in the vehicle, also young people from Yarmouth County, were being treated in hospital for serious injuries.
The Ontario Provincial Police say a preliminary investigation shows that a westbound vehicle traveling on Highway 17 southeast of Mattawa in northern Ontario left the road, rolled and crashed into the ditch.
Jeremy Sisco of Yarmouth was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was released by the Ontario Provincial Police. The police identified him as the driver of the vehicle.
The other two people traveling in the vehicle, Spencer Saulnier and his girlfriend Tracie d'Entremont, were seriously injured and sent to hospital. D'Entremont, however succumbed to her injuries on Aug. 25 and died in an Ottawa hospital.
The collision occurred on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 22. The cause is still under investigation.
It has been said that the three were driving out west, where they work, after having been home for a visit with family and friends.
On social media people are offering their condolences and sharing their sadness over Sisco's death, and sending their prayers and support to Saulnier and d'Entremont as they recover from their injuries. At the time of this posting the full extent of the other two's injuries were not known.
