Cadet Caleb Hovey walks down the side of the abseil tower at Gagetown.Submitted
Army Cadet Caleb Hovey can’t help but grin as he conquers his fears on the infamous abseil tower recently at Argonaut Army Cadet Summer Training Centre in Gagetown, N.B.
“I was terrified at first,” Hovey said.
Hovey, who parades with the 2444 Army Cadets in Kentville, took a two-week general training course at the camp which introduces new cadets to camp life and gives them “just a taste” of the different activities they can pursue in coming summers, such as orienteering, marksmanship, sports and music.
The training centre is one of four cadet centres in Atlantic Canada. Cadets from across Canada and abroad were at the training centre this summer taking part in expedition, pipes and drums, leadership and fitness and sports programs.
