On Wednesday evening, Aug. 14, the RCMP Shelburne County Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) searched a residence located on Stoney Island Road and seized 36 pot plants.
It's already been a busy summer for RCMP in Shelburne County.
In the most recent search and seizure, RCMP charged a man after police dismantled an outdoor marijuana grow operation on Cape Sable Island.
On Wednesday evening, Aug. 14, the RCMP Shelburne County Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) executed a search warrant at a residence located on Stoney Island Road. Officers from the RCMP Barrington Detachment assisted the Street Crime Unit in locating and dismantling an outdoor marijuana grow operation found on the property. Thirty-six marijuana plants were seized. Police also found two unsecured rifles, a handgun and ammunition.
A 49-year-old male, from Cape Sable Island, was arrested near the residence and later released. He is scheduled to appear in Barrington Provincial Court on Oct. 24. He faces a charge under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act for Production of Marijuana and a Criminal Code charge for Unsafe Storage of Firearms.
