South West Health’s news physician will be accepting patients in Shelburne with 150 being accepted at a time to a minimum of 1000 patients overall.
South West Health welcomed Dr. Aleksandra Malec, family physician who will open her family practice temporarily at Enterprise Square in Shelburne until the new medical centre near Roseway Hospital is complete.
Dr. Malec will gradually accept a limited number of new patients. Only 150 new patients are able to be accepted at first.
People currently without a primary care provider, family physican or nurse practitioner who wish to be a patient of Dr. Malec are asked to call 902-875-3370 on Thursday, Aug 22 starting at 10:30 a.m.
People are asked to have their MSI number, date of birth, and a valid telephone number.
South West Health said in a release that after the first 150 patients are accepted, the phone lines would close. They will not keep a waiting list.
After these first patients are processed and seen by the doctor, the phone line will re-open and additional patients will be accepted.
An announcement will be made at that time and will be posted on the South West Health website: www.swndha.ca.
“By accepting only 150 patients at a time, this will avo8id the creation of a large list of patients that takes many months to process and hopefully reduce the frustration of patients waiting for an appointment,” said Fraser Mooney, communications director for South West Health.
Only telephone applications will be accepted.
