Police confirmed Thursday that the male driver involved in a fatal collision Aug. 14 lost control of the vehicle. At the time of the accident, it was raining heavily.
The road was closed for several hours while an accident reconstructionist was on site.
RCMP are on the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash in Cambridge Station.
At 4:41 p.m. on Aug. 14, RCMP responded to a single vehicle crash on Cambridge Road. A vehicle had left the roadway and struck a large tree. As a result of the crash, the driver died at the scene. The passenger had to be extricated out of the car by emergency personnel using the Jaws of Life and has been transported by EHS LifeFlight to hospital in Halifax.
The collision took place on Cambridge Road, just north of the entrance to the Annapolis Valley First Nation.
A RCMP traffic analyst has been called in to assist the investigators. Police are advising that this portion of the road will be closed until further notice. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
