The Mud Creek Rotary’s Toonie Toss is proving successful as six local programs got cash in hand recently.
L'Arche Homefires, Carey Me, Palliative Care in the Home, local food banks, VON community support programs, school breakfast programs and library children's programs received $400 each recently.
Among the beneficiaries, club spokesman Rob Porter said the library received an additional $500 from other club resources.
The 50/50 Toonie Toss lottery started in May after the Wolfville club got the idea from fellow Rotarians in Montague, PEI.
The weekly lottery benefits six charities in the eastern Valley, the Rotary cause and one lucky individual, who gets 50 per cent of the proceeds.
Fifteen vendors in the region sell chances on the lottery.
