Completion of the sidewalk linking Brunswick Street to Prospect Street is one step nearer completion.
Yarmouth town council has awarded a tender to Aberdeen Paving Ltd in the amount of $374,065.63. Aberdeen was the low bidder.
Council had approved $390,000 in its capital budget this year to complete the sidewalk. It will provide more direct sidewalk access to Meadowfields Community School for a lot of neighbourhoods in the Milton area. The missing link runs between Hibernia and Prospect streets.
Tenders closed Tuesday, Aug. 6. The project also includes upgrades to the storm sewer system. Two bids were received. Garian Construction Ltd. was the other bidder, its bid was $390,977.81.
When the work gets underway it will mean some traffic disruptions, as the work calls for excavation, removal of culverts and the installation of storm sewers and catch basins. In addition to the construction of the sidewalk and curbs, the road will also be widened to meet the new curbs.
