Troy D. Bezanson, 37, of New Minas was sentenced in Windsor court July 31 on four charges. In April, Bezanson plead guilty to driving while impaired, driving while disqualified, failing to comply with a probation order and evading police by failing to stop. The charges stem from a Feb. 16 White Rock Road incident.
Judge Alan Tufts sentenced him to six months in custody on each charge to be served concurrently as well as a five year, six month driving prohibition.
Two of three men charged after an alleged break and enter June 18 in Kingston are scheduled to stand trial early next year.
Kaz Henry Cox, 34, of Kingston, appeared in Windsor court July 31 to set a date for trial on three charges: break and enter, robbery and assault. He had earlier elected trail be judge alone and entered not guilty pleas. Cox is currently in custody for a marijuana production and trafficking conviction. He will return to court Sept. 3 for a show cause hearing and Feb. 4, 2014, to stand trial on the three charges.
Shaun Christopher Smith, 34, of Berwick, is also scheduled for trial Feb. 14 on the same charges.
Phillip Wayne Clayton, 40, of Kingston, has not yet made a court appearance. He is expected to appear in Kentville court Aug. 15.
Two Canada Creek residents charged with trafficking cocaine are scheduled to appear in court in September.
Lisa Dawn Louise Trimper, 28, and Bradley Charles MacDonald, 34, face charges of possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of a firearm and possessing a firearm without a licence.
Members of the Valley Street Crime Enforcement Unit and Kingston RCMP arrested the pair around midnight on July 17 after a vehicle stop in Canada Creek.
Police say they seized cocaine from the vehicle and then executed a search warrant at a Black Rock address, where they seized a firearm.
Trimper and MacDonald appeared in court July 18 and were released on conditions. MacDonald returned to court July 31 to have the conditions of his release varied.
Neither person has entered a plea on the charges.
A Kentville man arrested July 25 on a drug trafficking charge was released after a July 31 court appearance.
Allen Frederick Mahaney, 46, was arrested in Kentville and accused of possessing dilaudid for the purpose of trafficking. He was held in custody until his Windsor court appearance last week, after which he was released on $5,000 bail. Maheney’s next court date is Sept. 3. He has not yet entered a plea to the charge.
