New Glasgow wood carver Andy Ward has been commissioned by the Town of Clark’s Harbour to create a sculpture to sit atop the Fishermen’s Memorial.
“We’re hoping he will have it done by early April,” said Mayor Leigh Stoddart.
The wooden sculpture will be about six feet tall (two metres), said the Mayor, and will feature a fisherman at the helm.
Town Council considered two quotes for the job in early February, with Ward tendering the lowest bid.
The Clark’s Harbour Fishermen’s Memorial bears the names of lost mariners from Cape Sable Island from 1900 onward.
