The bridge was built in 1900, which makes it 113 years old. The bridge is safe but the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure wants to replace it before the bridge starts to see too much wear and tear.
The current bridge is only a one-lane bridge. Drivers must take turns going across. The new bridge will have two lanes.
A spokesperson for the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure says the area is already being surveyed and work will begin in 2014 and the bridge is to be finished in 2015.
