Centreville’s Brandon Whitney was named one of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s three stars for February.
The Victoriaville Tigres’ goaltender has a goals-against average of 2.01 and a save percentage of .930. Whitney’s play was strong throughout the month of February, earning two shutouts and seven wins of eight games. He played 124 minutes and six seconds without allowing a goal between Feb. 2 and 10.
Whitney was a seventh round 2012 pick for the Chicago Blackhawks.
Halifax Mooseheads’ Jonathan Drouin and Rouyn-Noranda Huskies’ Mathieu Brisebois were the Telus first and second stars, respectively.
