Three-hour street parking is not on the list of short-term parking solutions Kentville is pursuing.

The town passed a report Feb. 25 that included four suggestions for changing parking: increasing accessible spots at the arena; adding more signs directing drivers to all-day parking; exploring adding temporary parking on vacant, private properties; and marking all-day spots on River Street.

A number of businesspeople and Kentville Development Corporation Limited president Bill Denyar praised a proposal for three-hour parking in an earlier version of the report. That version, discussed at the January council advisory committee, included a dozen proposals.

Public works director Fred Whynot said March 8 that staff and councillors had met informally Jan. 25 to discuss the January report.

As for the other eight suggestions for parking changes?

“Everything is on the table at the moment,” Whynot said.
