The Valley United U-18 girls' soccer team captured the NSSL indoor championship Friday evening in Halifax, edging Dunbrack 6-5 in a shootout in a game played at the Soccer Nova Scotia complex.

Emily Nickerson scored three times for Valley, including the goal that tied the game at five with a minute remaining in regulation time. Nickerson had also scored a minute earlier to make it 5-4.

Jessica Shaffelburg and Gillianne Gates had single goals for Valley, which came back from a 5-3 deficit in the second half to tie the score and force the extra time.

Dunbrack, the third-place team in the regular season, had qualified for the final with a 5-4 upset of second-place Halifax City Tuesday, March 5.
